Meet the Member: Alexandra Nickson

In this episode Tom Marien talks to Alexandra Nickson. Alex has been a member of One Element since 2009 and they cover Alex coming to terms with a new diagnosis and also her work as head of sustainable procurement for the NHS.
In 2021 Alex started feeling very ill, for over 6 months she avoided going to see a medic, as subconsciously she was beginning to think this could be something very very serious and perhaps better not to know. Eventually with the support and persuasion of her family she went to see a doctor….
In April 2021 Alex developed a team for the NHS, pulled together some fantastic people and now heads the team which is in effect responsible for 4% of the UK’s emissions, She also works with the government departments writing legislation [amongst other things] to combat slavery within the healthcare supply chain; we chat about how this works and she brings a real sense of optimism and ‘can do’ mentality to this, an optimism often absent in the national dialog.
